AVSF Mongolia's Sustainable Cashmere Union

Sustainable Cashmere Union is a non-profit organization established in 2017 at the initiative of the Bayankhongor sustainable cashmere cooperatives with the support of AVSF Mongolia. The goal of the Union is to improve the livelihoods of herders and contribute to the protection of the environment by intensifying the activities of cooperatives and exporting environmentally friendly raw materials to the international market. The Union undertakes marketing activities to connect cooperatives to the market and supports the sale of environmentally friendly raw materials prepared and processed by herders to the European market at added value.  More

As of 2022 Sustainable Cashmere Union has around 1000 households of 14 cooperatives in Bayankhongor, Arkhangai, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai and Khentii aimags and aims to expand its best practices in sustainable cashmere production to other aimags and soums.
